Austin police are investigating a fatal early-morning crash that resulted in the death of a passenger and the arrest of a driver on DUI-related charges.
Authorities reported that an SUV operated by Jordan Micah Atkins, 32, struck a tow truck at around 3:36 a.m. in the 8400 block of East U.S. Highway 290. The passenger riding in the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene.
Atkins was taken into custody and charged with intoxication manslaughter. Police have not released additional details as the case remains under investigation.
