A Los Angeles father suffered life-changing injuries after an out-of-control GMC truck struck multiple vehicles before hitting him as he protected his young daughter in Venice, authorities and reports said.
Jordan Stannard, 38, was loading his 2-year-old daughter, Sadie, into the family's Tesla along Venice Boulevard when he heard an initial crash involving the truck. Moments later, the GMC reportedly slammed into a Mercedes SUV waiting for a parking space before continuing toward the family.
According to reports, Stannard pushed his daughter into the Tesla just before the truck struck him. He was rushed to a hospital with major injuries, where surgeons later amputated his left leg.
A GoFundMe campaign has been created to assist the Stannard family with ongoing medical expenses as Jordan recovers from his injuries.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
