Elk Grove police continue to investigate a deadly suspected DUI hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of Jose Rangel Diosdado.
According to authorities, Diosdado was struck by a Honda minivan around 8:45 p.m. near Grove Florin Road and Heritage Drive. Emergency personnel responded to the scene and transported him to a hospital with serious injuries.
Officials later confirmed that Diosdado died Wednesday as a result of injuries sustained in the collision.
Investigators identified the suspected driver as 35-year-old Demond Hunter, who allegedly fled the scene following the crash. Police later located Hunter and found damage to the hood of the minivan that was consistent with the incident.
Hunter was charged with DUI and hit-and-run, while authorities indicated that additional charges remain possible as the investigation proceeds.
