A suspected impaired driver struck two pedestrians Sunday night in Mohave County, killing one and injuring another, authorities said.

The victim was identified as 55-year-old Julie Becker of British Columbia, Canada.

According to police, a vehicle was traveling southbound on Lake Havasu Avenue just north of College Drive at approximately 10 p.m. when it struck two pedestrians. The driver allegedly failed to stop after the collision and subsequently crashed into an unoccupied parked vehicle.

Becker was transported to a local hospital, where she later died from her injuries. The second pedestrian, a 67-year-old British Columbia resident, was taken to a hospital and listed in stable condition.

Authorities said the driver, a 19-year-old Lake Havasu City resident, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, driving under the influence, criminal damage, and underage consumption of alcohol.

The Mohave County Attorney’s Office confirmed that a manslaughter charge is pending as the investigation continues.
