A bicyclist is dead after being struck by a vehicle early Monday on the Long Beach (710) Freeway in East Los Angeles, the California Highway Patrol reports.
The county medical examiner identified the victim as Julio Escoto, 47.
According to early reports, Escoto was riding his bicycle around 3:20 a.m. on the southbound freeway just north of Floral Drive when he was hit by a vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver involved reportedly remained at the scene following the crash. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
