
A wrong-way crash involving a Hyundai Elantra and a Toyota Camry left one man dead and several others injured Friday afternoon in Victorville.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, the collision occurred around 3:28 p.m. on Village Drive between Llanada Avenue and Amargosa Road. Investigators said a Hyundai Elantra was traveling west in the eastbound lane when it collided head-on with an eastbound Toyota Camry.
Kelvin Winston Jr., a 34-year-old Victorville resident who was a passenger in the Hyundai, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A female passenger in the Hyundai was critically injured and ultimately airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center after initial treatment in Apple Valley. Two children riding in the vehicle were transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Hyundai driver also sustained critical injuries and was airlifted to Loma Linda University Medical Center. The driver of the Toyota suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment.
Authorities continue to investigate the fatal collision.
