Police are investigating a fatal crash involving an electric scooter that claimed the life of a Bakersfield woman early Tuesday.
Officials said Lakia Annette Norrissa Gray, 37, was riding west near Fourth and P streets when she was struck by a northbound vehicle in a crosswalk shortly after midnight.
Emergency responders arrived to find Gray with major injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver involved did not flee and is cooperating with authorities. Investigators confirmed that impairment is not believed to be a factor in the incident.
