Two people died late Friday night in a single-vehicle crash on northbound Highway 99 in San Joaquin County, the California Highway Patrol reported.

According to authorities, a northbound sedan made an unsafe turn to the left near the Victor Road interchange just before 11:30 p.m. and struck the concrete center divider. The vehicle continued north before overturning and coming to rest on a metal guardrail.

The front-seat passenger was ejected from the vehicle, while the driver was partially ejected through the windshield. Both were taken to a local hospital, where they later died from their injuries.

Luis Calderon, 32, of Riverbank, was identified as one of the two victims. A 31-year-old Lodi woman also died in the crash.

The California Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation into the cause of the crash.
