A fatal pedestrian crash in Dana Point on Tuesday morning claimed the life of 13-year-old Luis Adrian Morales-Pacheco after he was struck by an allegedly intoxicated driver, authorities confirmed.
Investigators said Luis and his brother were waiting on a traffic island near Park Lantern and Dana Point Harbor Drive around 8:15 a.m. when a vehicle driven by a 59-year-old San Juan Capistrano man hit the teen. He later died at a nearby hospital.
The driver did not stop, according to officials, but was later located and arrested in San Juan Capistrano. He faces felony DUI and felony hit-and-run charges. Authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the collision.
