Investigators are working to determine the cause of a head-on collision that left Maiya Beck seriously injured in Shasta County.
Authorities said the crash happened Thursday morning on McArthur Road when a Volkswagen traveling northbound crossed into oncoming traffic on a curve and struck Beck’s vehicle.
The collision caused a fire in Beck’s Infiniti, prompting emergency crews to airlift her to a hospital for urgent care. The other driver suffered only minor injuries.
The CHP continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
