A teenager was killed and two other people were injured in a crash early Friday near 61st Avenue and Indian School Road in west Phoenix, according to police.
Authorities identified the victim as 18-year-old Marc Anthony Velazquez Serrano. Investigators said the crash occurred when an unknown driver crossed into oncoming traffic and struck another vehicle.
Serrano, who was a passenger in the first vehicle, died from injuries sustained in the collision. Two occupants of the second vehicle, identified only as a man and a woman, were transported to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Phoenix firefighters responding to the scene found a heavily damaged two-door sedan and an SUV. Police said the driver of the first vehicle is accused of fleeing the scene, and it was not immediately known if the suspect had been apprehended.
The crash remains under investigation.
