A police pursuit involving a stolen U-Haul van ended in tragedy Monday when Maria Ramirezahmad lost her life in a violent collision.
Investigators said the incident occurred shortly after deputies spotted a suspicious vehicle without license plates. When officers attempted a traffic stop, the driver fled at high speed.
Moments later, the fleeing U-Haul slammed into Ramirezahmad’s SUV at an intersection, causing fatal injuries. Emergency responders arrived, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver has since been arrested and faces serious felony charges as authorities continue to review the circumstances of the pursuit.
