
A pedestrian and her dog were fatally struck Monday night in Novato in a crash that remains under investigation by the Marin County Sheriff's Office.
The victim, identified as 59-year-old Mary Colleen Murphy of Novato, was crossing Novato Boulevard near its intersection with St. Paul Circle at approximately 9 p.m. when she and her dog were hit by a vehicle. The driver, an 18-year-old man, has not been publicly named.
Murphy was transported to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. Her dog did not survive the crash.
The driver remained on scene and cooperated with responding officers. Investigators have stated that impairment does not currently appear to be a contributing factor in the collision.
The Sheriff's Office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
