An investigation is underway after authorities discovered a woman lying near Santa Rosa Road late Thursday night in what appears to be a fatal hit-and-run collision.
CHP officials responded around 11 p.m. and found the victim unresponsive. She was later pronounced dead at Los Robles Regional Medical Center. The Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as 82-year-old Masako Sakane of Thousand Oaks.
Investigators believe Sakane was struck by a vehicle based on physical evidence and the pattern of injuries. No additional information about the driver or involved vehicle has been released.
