Authorities have arrested a driver in connection with a fatal pedestrian crash that claimed the life of a young child in San Francisco.

Police said Merih Fssha Solomon, 47, struck a 2-year-old girl and her mother near Fourth and Channel streets around 8:55 p.m. The child later died at a hospital, while the mother was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Solomon faces charges including vehicular manslaughter, running a red light, and failure to yield to pedestrians. The incident remains under investigation.
