A 39-year-old Pomaria man was killed in a pedestrian accident on Sunday, December 7, in the Prosperity area of Newberry County.
Michael Stuart Reid died after he was struck by a Toyota SUV at approximately 6:20 p.m. The fatal collision occurred at the intersection of State Park Road and Ralph Williams Road. Troopers from the South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) confirmed that the 2019 SUV was involved in the incident. Mr. Reid was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Newberry County Coroner’s Office confirmed the fatality and scheduled an autopsy. The SCHP stated that the specific cause and circumstances surrounding the crash remain under active investigation by local authorities.
