The California Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal wrong-way crash that occurred Tuesday evening on Highway 70 in Sutter County.
CHP officials said Miguel Sigala-Flores, 23, of Willows, was driving a Toyota Corolla that made a U-turn and entered the southbound lanes traveling in the wrong direction at about 7:26 p.m. Near Striplin Road, the Toyota struck a Volkswagen Tiguan head-on.
The Volkswagen’s driver was seriously injured, and a 1-year-old passenger sustained moderate injuries. Both were taken to Rideout Hospital. Sigala-Flores died at the scene.
Authorities noted foggy weather conditions during the incident. The crash remains under investigation.
