Police have identified a man killed in a pedestrian crash last week on Blackstone Avenue as 39-year-old Mitchell Wright of Fresno.
The Fresno County Coroner's Office confirmed Wright's identity following the crash, which occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. on June 25 near the intersection of Blackstone and Olive avenues. According to police, Wright was walking outside of a designated crosswalk when he was struck by a car traveling southbound on Blackstone Avenue.
Investigators noted that the stretch of roadway where the crash occurred was poorly lit at the time. Wright was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police say officers on the scene did not suspect that impairment was a factor in the crash, and no charges have been filed against the driver as of this report.
The Fresno Police Department is continuing its investigation and is asking anyone with information about the crash to come forward.
