California Highway Patrol officers are investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred early Saturday on the Hollywood (101) Freeway in downtown Los Angeles.

According to CHP, 78-year-old Myong Park was walking on the freeway at approximately 3:30 a.m. when he was struck by a southbound vehicle just south of Alameda Street.

First responders arrived at the scene shortly after the crash and determined that Park had sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have not released information regarding the driver involved, and no details have been provided about potential contributing factors in the collision.

The investigation remains active as CHP works to determine the events that led to the fatal crash.
