
Authorities are investigating a fatal multi vehicle crash that claimed the life of a 69 year old woman on Highway 101 near Cuesta Grade.
The California Highway Patrol identified the victim as Nancy Louise Cunningham of Stratham, Georgia.
According to a preliminary report, a Toyota Camry attempted to make a left turn onto Highway 101 from Higuera Ranch at approximately 9:30 p.m. when it collided with a northbound Toyota Highlander. The collision left the Camry heavily damaged and unlit in the No. 1 northbound lane.
Cunningham, a passenger in the Camry, was struck by a Hyundai Tucson traveling northbound as she exited the vehicle.
She died at the scene.
Five others, including three juveniles, were taken to Adventist Health Sierra Vista Hospital with minor to moderate injuries.
Officials continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
