Police are investigating a pedestrian crash that killed a Hayward woman and injured her grandson Saturday evening at a local intersection.
According to authorities, Olga Figueroa Hernandez, 59, was walking with her grandson around 6:20 p.m. when they were struck by a vehicle in a crosswalk near West Tennyson Road and Baldwin Street.
Hernandez died from her injuries. Her grandson was hospitalized with serious facial injuries but has since been released. Police said the driver involved, a 60-year-old Hayward resident, stayed at the scene and spoke with officers.
The investigation is ongoing.
