Authorities in Los Angeles are continuing to investigate a deadly hit-and-run crash early Sunday morning that killed Osvaldo Sandoval Amaya and a 1-year-old child in Playa del Rey.
According to LAPD, the crash occurred at approximately 4:34 a.m. near Culver Boulevard in the 6800 block of Vista Del Mar Avenue.
Investigators said a white Jeep Cherokee traveling southbound crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a blue BMW carrying five occupants.
Police reported that the driver of the Jeep fled the scene on foot, abandoning the vehicle after the crash.
Osvaldo Sandoval Amaya, 25, and 1-year-old Roger Sandoval Farias were pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the collision.
Three additional passengers in the BMW were transported to area hospitals. One woman remains in critical condition, while a man and another passenger are receiving medical treatment.
Authorities said no suspect description has been released, and the investigation remains active.
