Authorities are continuing to investigate a deadly crash involving three vehicles on Highway 1 near Moss Landing late Saturday night.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred at about 10:18 p.m. north of Springfield Road when a GMC pickup allegedly crossed into oncoming traffic. The vehicle sideswiped a Ford pickup before crashing head-on into a Honda sedan.

The crash resulted in the deaths of Paulino Hilario De Los Santos and a 17-year-old boy, both occupants of the Honda. A third occupant from the same vehicle remains hospitalized in critical condition.

A woman in the Ford pickup was also injured and transported for treatment, while three other occupants in that vehicle were unharmed.

The driver of the GMC, a 51-year-old man, sustained serious injuries and was later arrested after officers observed signs of alcohol impairment. He faces charges that include DUI causing injury.

The case remains under active investigation by CHP.
