December 05, 2025 — Seth Pollack, 66, the founder of California State University, Monterey Bay's (CSUMB) Service Learning Institute, was fatally struck by a vehicle Friday morning on 17 Mile Drive. The incident occurred near Crespi Lane.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), Mr. Pollack was cycling west when he collided head-on with a Toyota SUV, driven by a 62-year-old Pebble Beach resident, who was attempting a left turn. Mr. Pollack died at the scene.
The CHP is actively investigating the circumstances of the fatal collision.
