Quinn Clarke, 20, of Jamestown, was seriously injured Thursday in a two-vehicle collision at Highway 108 and Sunshine Road near Soulsbyville, officials said.
The California Highway Patrol reported that an 84-year-old Sonora resident was driving a Mercedes SUV eastbound on Highway 108 and stopped in the left-turn lane to access Sunshine Road. The SUV driver then turned left, allegedly failing to yield to Clarke’s westbound Ford Mustang.
The vehicles collided, sending the Mustang into a roadside ditch and causing extensive front-end damage.
Clarke and the Mercedes driver were both taken to Modesto hospitals with serious injuries. Authorities said the SUV driver was airlifted from the scene. Deputies from the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office assisted at the scene.
Officials continue to investigate the crash.
