Authorities are continuing to investigate a deadly pedestrian-train accident that occurred Thursday morning in Los Angeles’ Highland Park neighborhood.
Officials said Rafael Cruz, 60, was struck by a Metro light rail train operating along the A Line tracks near the intersection of North Avenue 61 and Figueroa Street at about 7:17 a.m.
Cruz suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders.
Investigators have not disclosed what led to the collision or whether any contributing factors such as visibility, warning systems, or pedestrian access issues may have played a role.
The crash remains under active investigation as authorities work to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
