Rigoberto Antonio Lemus, 38, was killed Monday night after being struck by a sedan on the southbound 14 Freeway near Ward Road in Acton, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident happened at approximately 11 p.m. CHP Newhall Area officers and Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel responded to the scene, where they found a white Ford pickup truck and a red Tesla sedan blocking lanes.
Preliminary reports indicate that Lemus was driving the pickup when it ran out of gas and stopped in the No. 3 lane of southbound State Route 14.
Lemus exited the pickup and was standing behind it when a passing sedan struck him. He later died from his injuries.
The sedan driver remained at the scene following the collision, CHP said.
