Santa Ana police have arrested a Moreno Valley man accused of striking a pedestrian and fleeing the scene last month.
The Santa Ana Police Department says Rigoberto Martinez Villalpando, 43, was behind the wheel of a black pickup truck towing a red trailer near Auto Mall Drive and Edinger Avenue on the morning of July 27. Shortly before 7:30 a.m., he allegedly struck a pedestrian and drove away without stopping. The victim was left with serious injuries and was taken to the hospital.
Investigators later tracked the suspect's pickup truck to Moreno Valley. After serving a search warrant at Villalpando's residence, police arrested him on August 13.
The case remains under investigation by the Santa Ana Police Department.
