A pedestrian collision early Thursday morning in Imperial resulted in the death of a 41-year-old man, authorities said.
According to investigators, Ruben Camargo was walking along State Route 86 when he was struck by a GMC Sierra near Aten Road around 12:31 a.m.
Camargo was ejected into a nearby ditch due to the force of the collision and sustained critical injuries. He was initially taken to El Centro Regional Medical Center before being flown to UC San Diego Hillcrest Medical Center, where he later died.
The driver involved in the crash stopped at the scene and is assisting investigators. The incident remains under investigation.
