Authorities are investigating a fatal wrong-way crash in Lake County that claimed the lives of two young adults Friday night.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 7:03 p.m. on State Road 33 near Swamp Drive, south of State Road 50. Troopers said Seenarine Hardeo, 50, was allegedly driving under the influence when he entered the southbound lanes while traveling north in a Mini Cooper.

Hardeo’s vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer driven by a 67-year-old Miramar resident, sending the semi into the northbound lanes where it struck a Chevy Silverado. The vehicles left the roadway, and the tractor-trailer overturned.

The Silverado’s 22-year-old driver from Frostproof and his 18-year-old passenger from Tallahassee died at the scene. Hardeo faces two counts of DUI manslaughter as the investigation continues.
