Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash on Illinois Route 159 that killed a local woman Saturday night.
According to the Illinois State Police, Shannon Duff, 44, was walking her dog near Hollywood Heights Road around 9 p.m. when she was struck by a northbound passenger car.
Duff was pronounced dead at the scene, and her dog was taken for emergency treatment. The driver of the vehicle was injured and transported to a nearby hospital.
Officials said the investigation is ongoing as authorities work to determine the circumstances of the crash.
