Salinas police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that killed a wheelchair user Sunday evening.
Police said a vehicle struck 63-year-old Shawn Allen near the intersection of South Main and Winham streets shortly before 8 p.m. Allen, who was in a wheelchair at the time of the collision, died from his injuries.
No further details about the driver or circumstances of the crash were immediately available. Officials noted the incident represents the city’s seventh pedestrian-related traffic fatality this year.
