One woman died and another was injured in a late-night traffic collision near Poway in San Diego County, authorities said.
The CHP reported that a Honda Civic traveling north on Route 67 collided with a Chevrolet Tahoe attempting a left turn onto Scripps Poway Parkway at about 11:25 p.m. Sherilynne Hammer, a passenger in the Honda, was pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger was hospitalized with serious injuries.
The investigation into the circumstances of the crash, including the alleged hit-and-run, is ongoing. Law enforcement urges anyone with information to come forward.
