Taevion Knox, 30, of Oroville, lost his life in a high-speed police pursuit crash late Tuesday night in Fairfield.
Officials reported that Knox was riding in a Mercedes-Benz that fled from deputies shortly after midnight along Highway 12. The vehicle allegedly accelerated to extreme speeds before crashing near the Travis Air Force Base visitor center and catching fire.
Both Knox and the driver died at the scene. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the pursuit and crash.
