Authorities report that a pedestrian died after being struck by a train in Salinas on Thursday evening.
The victim, identified as 46-year-old Tracy Abanathie, was hit at around 6:15 p.m. near 1500 Abbott Street. She was pronounced dead following the collision. Police confirmed that the investigation into the fatal accident is ongoing, including whether proper safety measures were in place for pedestrians.
