Police are investigating a suspected DUI crash that injured a passenger Friday afternoon after a vehicle struck a tree near Canyon Road and Copper Drive in Redding.
According to investigators, the crash occurred around 2:50 p.m. when a vehicle driven by 25-year-old Troy Lyons Jr. collided with a tree. A 31-year-old female passenger sustained injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.
Authorities said suspected narcotics were located at the scene. Charges alleging driving under the influence causing injury against Lyons Jr. will be submitted to the Shasta County District Attorney's Office for review.
Officials have not released the injured woman's identity.
