Yuta Sasagawa, 27, died Monday night after being struck by a vehicle while crossing a roadway in Torrance.
According to the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office, Sasagawa died from blunt traumatic injuries.
The collision happened at approximately 8:40 p.m. at Madrona Avenue and Garnet Street, south of Del Amo Boulevard.
Early reports indicate Sasagawa was crossing Madrona Avenue when he was hit by a northbound vehicle. Torrance Fire Department personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.
The driver reportedly remained at the crash site, according to police.
